Jiří Zavadil, Ph.D.

Jiří Zavadil, Ph.D., is a prominent molecular biologist and cancer genomics expert at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) in Lyon, France. He previously held research positions at MD Anderson Cancer Center and at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and NYU Langone Health. His work at IARC investigates the molecular mechanisms of tumorigenesis by characterizing complex molecular damage caused by environmental and lifestyle exposures, including mycotoxins, tobacco, food contaminants, and plant toxins such as aristolochic acid, to advance cancer prevention. He received his Ph.D. in Biomedicine and Molecular Genetics from Charles University in Prague.
