Prof. Robbie Joséph Loewith, PhD

Prof. Robbie Joséph Loewith is a Full Professor in the Department of Molecular Biology & Cellular Biology at the University of Geneva, specializing in Cell Biology and Biochemistry. His research centers on the structure, function, and regulation of the two, broadly conserved, Target of Rapamycin (TOR) protein complexes (TORC1 and TORC2). These complexes are critical master regulators of cell growth and metabolism. His lab utilizes yeast genetics, biochemistry, and structural biology to investigate how TOR complexes are regulated, with a specific interestin how they respond to environmental cues including mechanical changes in cell membrane tension. Prof. Loewith obtained his PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology/Genetics from the University of Calgary.
