In December 2025, the Department of Biology established the International Scientific Advisory Board (ISAB), consisting of five distinguished international experts. The board’s mission is to provide independent expert evaluation of the department’s activities and research groups and to support their further development at the international level.

The first online meeting of the ISAB took place in January 2026 and was attended by the Head of the Department of Biology, Prof. Ondřej Slabý. The meeting focused on introducing the department and its research groups, defining the goals, criteria, and grading of the evaluation process, setting the date for the onsite visit, and assigning individual research groups to the evaluators.

In March 2026, a two-day onsite visit will take place at the Department of Biology, attended by members of the International Scientific Advisory Board and all research groups of the department. The visit will focus on a detailed assessment of scientific activities, presentations of achieved results, and discussions on the future direction of the department and its research teams.
