" From Ph.D. to university spin-off company in the context of Masaryk University”

This seminar will be focused on the generation of a spin-off company. You will learn what is a spin-off, what is the benefit of creating one, what is necessary to build one, all within the context of our Masaryk University.

Pavlína Janovská, Ph.D., graduated in Molecular Biology and Genetics at Masaryk University (MU) in Brno, where she also later received her Ph.D. in Animal Physiology. During her studies, she focused on the importance of the Wnt signaling pathway and its role in the pathogenesis of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and described a novel molecular target for its treatment - casein kinase 1 (CK1) δ/ε. As a postdoc, she is continuing her research on the Wnt pathway and the use of CK1 inhibition for the treatment of various cancers in the laboratory of Prof. Vítězslav Bryja (MU). Dr. Janovská is a member of the scientific team of the spin-off company CasInvent Pharma, which was established at Masaryk University thanks to the unique collaboration of the scientific groups of Prof. Bryja and Assoc. Prof. Kamil Paruch, with the support of the investment company i&i Prague. The company's goal is to successfully complete the preclinical phase of the development of CK1 inhibitors and move forward to clinical trials.
