Childhood Oncology Fundraising Event
The Andrysik Lab from the Department of Biology, Faculty of Medicine, partnered with The Krtek Children's Oncology Endowment Fund to host a successful fundraising event benefiting children with cancer.
The David Šmajs research group was nominated for the prestigious Award of the Ministry of Health for extraordinary results achieved in the field of research and development.
Research project of prof. MUDr. David Šmajs, Ph.D. and his team focused on the development of new typing system for the causal agents of syphilis and due to its excellent outcomes, it is among the 16 nominated projects for the Award of the Ministry of Health. This is the second nomination of scientists from the Biology Department, Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University. In 2019, RNDr. Pavel Krejčí was nominated and awarded as well.
Nominated projects will be officially presented in the beginning of September. The Czech Health Research Council AZV ČR together with the AZV ČR Board will select the winning projects for the award – the Ministry Award and the Honorable Prize.

The Biology department is once again organizing the Annual PhD Conference in Biomedical Sciences, which will take place on the 5th - 6th of November 2025 at the University Campus in Brno.
More than 60 PhD students from various departments of the Faculty of Medicine, CEITEC MU, and FNUSA-ICRC will present the progress and results of their doctoral research in the field of biomedicine.
