In the spring semester, we will welcome seven new students to the Biomedical Sciences PhD program, two of whom will join the research group of Dr. Nicola Silva at the Department of Biology.
This semester we are also organizing a PhD Welcome Day for new doctoral students of the Biomedical Sciences program. During this informal meeting, which will be held on 26.2. at 09:30 at the Department of Biology, students will familiarize themselves with the study conditions, have the opportunity to ask questions and, last but not least, get to know their new colleagues.
A total of 7 students will start their PhD studies in the Biomedical Sciences program, who will join research teams at the departments of the Faculty of Medicine MU or at external workplaces. At the Deparment of Biology, we will welcome two foreign students who will join the research group of Dr. Nicola Silva. Using the model organism C.elegans, they will study the molecular mechanisms of DNA repair during meiotic cell division.
The Head of the Department of Biology, Prof. Ondřej Slabý, has been elected Academician of the Year for preclinical teaching in a student poll organized by the Medical Students Association. The award ceremony occurred during the 26th Faculty of Medicine and Medical Students Association Representative Ball. Congratulations 😊.
The head of the research group, Dr. Pavel Krejčí, spoke to Medical Tribune about developing a new drug for patients with achondroplasia, which is now in the phase 2 clinical trial.
