From PhD to Therapeutic Area Manager in a Pharma Company

Vitor completed his studies in Applied Microbiology at the University of Sciences in Lisbon and obtained his PhD in Medical Sciences from Karolinska Institute in Stockholm. As Marie Curie PhD fellow, Vitor gained a solid background in infectious diseases and expanded his knowledge in physics and microfluidics.
Shortly after his dissertation in 2020, Vitor started his first position in the industry as Research Scientist at Cepheid, a molecular diagnostics company. This allowed him to apply his vast laboratorial expertise and gain a deeper understanding about the full product life cycle (from R&D to launch in the market).
Later in 2022, Vitor moved from the bench to a people-person role as Therapeutic Area Manager at MSD Sweden. Being the national responsable for one of the products in the company's portfolio, Vitor regularly interacts with healthcare professionals to discuss the latest scientific data and guidelines.
