Transition from academic research to business development in Technology Transfer Office

With Kateřina Šolcová, PhD 

Katerina completed her studies in Biochemistry at the University of Chemical Technology in Prague and obtained her PhD in Cell Biology from the University of Basel in Switzerland. With over a decade of academic experience, she specialized in RNA-binding proteins, RNA modification, and its regulation, expanding her expertise in this field.

In 2019, Katerina joined IOCB Tech, where she pitched into technology transfer. Her primary focus has been project management and business development, specifically concerning various commercially promising discoveries in medicinal chemistry discovered at IOCB. Her ultimate goal is to bridge the gap between scientific advancements and tangible patient benefits by facilitating connections between academia, investors, and pharmaceutical companies.

Currently, Katerina serves as a member of the business analytical team at CUIP and as a consultant for the Viennese incubator, Danube Labs. Her role involves the analysis and business development of discoveries, inventions, and research originating from Charles University. Her areas of interest revolve around life sciences, healthcare, biochemistry, and biology.
